About this guide
The Moon is a 58-page guide to magic, ritual and wonder, with the science behind it all. After a quick tour of the basics (what the Moon is, why it changes shape, and its size, distance and gravity), it starts with the spirit of the Moon.
More about this guide
There are moon rituals for every phase, a drumming-by-the-Moon chapter with a verified 2027 circle calendar, and sacred moon lore from the Hebrides to China. A chapter on full moon names explains what each one means and lists the 2027 full moons. The guide then turns to the Moon and our calendars, including how it sets the dates of Easter, Ramadan and Lunar New Year, and to tides, eclipses, and the story from Apollo to Artemis.
Closer to home there is a gallery of moons over Fife, practical tips on moon-watching in Fife, and an honest chapter, “Myth or science?”, on what the full moon does and does not do to us. It ends with a moon quiz, a glossary, companion guides and sources. Look out for “Did you know?” panels and “Try this tonight” ideas through the book.
All times are UK time. The rituals and lore are described for general interest only.
