In a world full of disinformation, get Clarity.
About Clarity
Clarity Guides is an independent publisher based in Fife, Scotland. We make plain-English guides that set out what people claim, what the evidence actually shows and where it runs out, so you can spot disinformation and check things for yourself.
How a guide is made
- Research. We start from reputable sources: official bodies such as the NHS, GOV.UK and Historic Environment Scotland, national records, archives and museums, and published research.
- Write it plainly. Claims are labelled as claims. Where sources disagree we give the range; where a story is tradition, we say so.
- Two proofreads. Every guide gets two separate proofreads, checking facts, figures, links and wording, then a page-by-page layout check before it is published.
- Sources listed. Every guide lists its sources at the back, with the date the facts were checked.
- Corrections. Every guide page has a “Spotted an error?” form. We read every report, check it and update the guide.
Independent
Clarity Guides is not linked to the NHS, the government or any organisation named in our guides. Guides are general information, not medical, financial or legal advice, and they point to proper help where it matters.
No adverts, no trackers
There are no adverts on goclarity.uk and no analytics, advertising or social-media tracking scripts. We never sell your details.
To be completely open about the exceptions:
- Pages with a form (the homepage, the Free Guides page and the “Spotted an error?” form on guide pages) load Google reCAPTCHA to block spam, so Google may set cookies and process technical data about your visit.
- The site is delivered by Netlify and Cloudflare, which process technical data such as IP addresses to serve pages and stop attacks.
- When you download a free guide we log the download (time, a download ID, IP address and browser type) to stop abuse.
- Paid guides are sold through Gumroad, which handles the payment.
Full details are in our privacy notice.
Free and paid guides
Some guides are free for everyone, with no email or sign-up. The rest cost a few pounds, which pays for the research and checking. You can read the first four pages of any guide free before you decide.
