Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to read our guides and use this site, including people who use a screen reader, magnification, a phone or a keyboard only.
Every guide comes in two editions
- Phone edition: bigger text in one column, made for reading on a phone or tablet without zooming.
- A4 edition: the full layout for printing or reading on a bigger screen. You can print it at any size.
- Large print: some guides, such as Accessible Walks in Fife & Scotland, are set in large print in both editions.
- Every guide page shows the first four pages as images right on the page, so you can check the layout suits you before you download or buy.
How the site is built
- Contrast: dark text on light backgrounds and light text on strong colours, chosen to be easy to read.
- Zoom: pages reflow when you zoom in or use your browser’s text size settings, and work on screens from small phones to desktops.
- Keyboard and screen readers: links and buttons can be reached with the keyboard, images have text descriptions, and pages use proper headings.
- No pop-ups or autoplay: there are no adverts, no autoplaying video and no sign-up pop-ups.
- Free guides need no account: download them with one tap, no email or form.
What we know is not perfect yet
- The guides are PDFs. They work with most screen readers, but complex tables and diagrams may be harder to follow.
- Forms that block spam use Google reCAPTCHA, which some people find hard to use. If it stops you, email us instead.
Report a problem
If something on the site or in a guide is hard to read or use, or you need a guide in a different format, email hello@goclarity.uk and tell us the page or guide and what went wrong. We will reply and fix what we can.
